Past Michigan State News Feburary 2005:
The
Michigan Council for Cooperative Education (MCCE) under
the direction of Rita Banton, Chair has taken on an aggressive
agenda for 2004-05. From strategic planning, to defining
the organization's mission and vision, to revamping the
website, to updating the logo, to revising the By-Laws to
planning our Annual Meeting, MCCE has been in high gear
since July 2004.
The MCCE
Executive Committee met on Wednesday, February 16, 2005
to discuss and make decisions about the following initiatives:
* A
new membership fee structure taking into consideration the
desire for individual, organizational and employee sponsorship
levels. A proposal will be made at the April 2005 meeting
for implementation in 2005-2006
*Planning
how to increase membership in the organization. Determining
how to best inform others about MCCE and held the find MCCE
to be a valuable organization to their work.
*A new
website design for MCCE incorporating the new logo, on-line
membershio directory, promotional brochures and newsletters.
*Planning
for a joint Annual Meeting with Michigan Association for
Collegiate Career and Employment Services (Mi-ACCESS) and
MCCE, June 2006 at the Amway Grand in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
*Call
for annual awards presented at the MCCE Annual Meeting in
June for the Carol Quandt Student Essay Contest, The Don
Hunt Service Award and the MCCE Employer of the Year Award.
*Discussion
regarding the organization's name and possible inclusion
on Internships or other forms of experiential education.
A committee has been formed to report in April 2005 on possible
names.

*Planning for a Drive-in Workshops in partnership with Automation Alley of Metro Detroit in April 2005.
*February
was again declared Cooperative Education Month in Michigan by
Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. Special events are planned at various
institutions during February promoting co-op.
*Planning
for a Michigan Virtual Career Fair in April 2005 with over 20
colleges and university partners and 50 employer partners in partnership
with Mi-ACCESS and Michigan Collegiate Jop fair (MCJF).
*Planning
to involve Upper Peninsula of Michigan in MCCE initiatives through
a regional representative at Michigan Technological University.
*Planning
to begin updating the Michigan Co-op At A Glance in 2005.
*Planning
the 2005 MCCE Annual Meeting, June 8,9,2005 at Brook Lodge in
Augusta, Michigan. Great activities and workshops have been planned
for this 2-day meeting. All are welcome. Check our website for
