Missouri —Rosalie Weathermon, Northwest Missouri State University
Current Report
A group of 13 representatives from around Missouri gathered together for their first state meeting at a MCEIA
conference in many years. In response to the MCEIA Board of Governor’s request, the groups
discussed Missouri wide initiatives and concerns that might affect internship and employment issues in the Midwest
as well. Feedback from the discussion will provide guidance to our organization’s future planning.
Each member shared either a new idea that worked well this year or a “best practice” in a “round robin” fashion.
Ideas varied from collaborations with campus partners for college members to an employer member’s practices for
recruiting young alumni.
At this point in time, there is no official Missouri state association for
experiential education. However, this group of representatives decided that they would like to stay “connected”
throughout the year. As Missouri State Director, I have established an email distribution list for the group. New
Missouri members and potential members reading this report are encouraged to join us! We hope to
share news, questions, and ideas, throughout the year in this fashion until we can meet again in person at
next year’s conference in Detroit! The power of this organization is in friendships and networking and I’m
happy to report that we are gaining on both fronts in the Show Me State.
